Firefox wont open please help?

whenever I click on the icon it shows its loading then a couple seconds later it just stops and nothing happens. this has happened before and usually restarting the computer fixes it but not this time. I tried going to the task manager then to processes but firefox is not on the list. and I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but firefox still wont open. does anybody have any other suggestions.
