In ur opinion what would u have done if u wer president harry truman? blockade jappan invade japan or....?

I lived in Japan for a year in 1955, 20 miles from the American Air Base. I learned to speak Japanese and to read Hiragana and Kata Kana, and could travel over the Southern Island of Kyushu by myself. I never talked with my landlords re the A-bombs that we dropped, but in talking, she related how they had learned to live, enduring the hoards of "Bees"--probably, the B-24's that come up from the South and bombed regularly. They buried their good china and valuables in the back yard, etc and learned how to fight the fire-storms on Honshu. It was estimated that the human toll--both Japanese and Allied, by fighting up the chain of islands, would have been horrendous. The Japanese were told that Americans would kill evey man, woman and child when they got to them. As terrible as those two A-bombs were,...it did stop the fighting...
