Problem with windows 7, computer freezes?

OK so i have been looking for the answer to my problem everywhere but i cant find the answer. All i find is like how people are talking about RAM and i dont even know what that means and they talk all type of smart stuff that i dont understand. All i know is that my computer freezes randomly and i want to fix it. When it freezes you cant access the task manager or the mouse or anything, i have to shut it off with the button which sucks. What could this problem be? and its not a heating problem i am positive of that. Thanks
